THE JOHN BISHOP WRITERS' LAB
This Lab is modeled after Circle Repertory Theatre’s writers’ lab, which produced such notable writers as Lanford Wilson and John Bishop. With an emphasis on dramatic structure, the Lab meets twice a month and assists writers in discovering and clarifying their own voice. The lab is designed to help writers develop stage plays and screenplays, full-lengths and short subjects. Writers of all levels and experiences may participate. In addition, Tribe actors are invited to come and read so that writers can hear their work performed.
THE DIRECTORS' LAB
This Lab meets quarterly and is designed to hone the skills of professional film and theatre directors, as well as introduce aspiring directors to the basic concepts of directing. The Lab covers many concepts that apply to both genres and addresses the ways in which theatre and film affect each other. For example, directors are introduced to jargon from various acting methodologies and learn the value that these theatre concepts bring to their director's tool belt. As part of their curriculum, lab participants are expected to mount Sunday Brunch productions.
Theatre Tribe's artistic director, Stuart Rogers, also teaches private classes four nights a week in the Theatre Tribe Studio Theatre. Though his classes are not directly related to Theatre Tribe, most Tribe members have studied or currently study with Stuart. Please see www.stuartrogersstudios.com for more information on these classes.
